Person of the Week: Dan Castellaneta

You’ve probably seen Dan Castellaneta on television in one of his many guest starring roles and thought, “he seems familiar.” But, you may not be able to place him. There’s just something about his voice that reminds you of someone. If so, you’re correct. He does remind you of someone. He reminds you of Homer Simpson. He also reminds you of Sideshow Mel and Krusty the Clown, and Groundskeeper Willie, and Abraham Simpson, and Barney Gumble and Mayor Quimby and, even, Hans Moleman. Yes, Mr. Castellaneta is the voice of all of these characters from The Simpsons and has been since Homer and his family first appeared in a series of animated shorts on The Tracey Ullman Show in 1987.
Castellaneta was a cast member of The Tracey Ullman show and had been selected by the producers to voice the patriarch of the odd, yellow family which starred in the comical bumpers created by Matt Groening. Aside from being the famous and multiple award winning voice of Homer Simpson, Castellaneta is an accomplished character actor with dozens of credits to his name. Castellaneta is also a proponent of healthy living. He’s known for his lifestyle of exercise, eating right and avoiding alcohol.
