Goal for the Day: Elevate a Common Item

Think of all the objects we use every day. Our hands touch items all the time without even thinking about it. The canister with the sugar in it, the salt shaker, the bottle of vitamins, a coffee cup, the glass on your vanity—imagine anything you employ daily. During the Belle Époque, great care was taken to make even the most mundane of items visually appealing. We seem to have lost that somewhere along the way. So, let’s make it a goal to give more importance to something we use daily. Why not put your mouthwash in an inexpensive cut-glass decanter? Try putting your dishwashing liquid in a glass bottle with an inexpensive pourer. Keep your chocolate in a ceramic dish. Anything is possible. If we make one thing we use each day a little more attractive, the act of using it seems just that much more special.

I love this idea. I have glassware that was my grandmother's just sitting in the cupboard. I am sure I can find an attractive use for it. And, well, when you mix anything with chocolate...you really can't go wrong, can you?

I agree...anything with chocolate is perfect.
